The National Statistical Institute of Chile (INE), which is responsible for the country’s official statistics, is pleased to invite you to the IAOS Conference on Official Statistics and the Environment, jointly organised by the International Association for Official Statistics (IAOS) and the Ministry of the Environment of Chile. This event falls under the country strategy designed to provide an integrated statistical platform.

The IAOS Conference represents a milestone for environmental statistics worldwide and provides an opportunity to cover a variety of very important issues with a high profile at the international level. In the year of Chile’s Bicentenary, this allows us to assess the progress made, share experiences with other countries and commit ourselves to the generation of quality statistics that will ensure the availability of timely, comprehensible and accurate information, contributing to decision-making processes and sustainable and environmentally-friendly economic development.

The organisation of this event has been made possible thanks to a joint effort between Chilean public and private institutions and international bodies. The participation of international experts, the chance to share the experiences of other Latin American countries, and the active participation of Chilean experts will create a road map for the creation of an integrated system of environmental statistics that will meet the country’s present and future needs.
