The work will be organized in 2 Plenary Sessions, 3 Panel Discussions and 5 Parallel Sessions. In each Parallel Session there will be one Invited Paper Session and two Contributed Paper Sessions. In addition there could be also specialised SCORUS Session.
LANGUAGE
The languages used at the conference will be English and Spanish. Interpretation services will be provided.
PLENARY SESSIONS
Plenary Session will be 60 minutes in length and will consist of:
• co-ordination by the Chair/Organiser of the session,
• two presentations by the keynote speakers, 20 minutes each and
• general discussion, 20 minutes.
Responsibilities of the Organiser of the session are:
• to write an abstract for the session for information and to guide the key note speakers,
• to suggest the keynote speakers and which aspects each should cover,
• to serve as liaison between the keynote speakers and the CPC and
• to propose the Chair for the Plenary Session or to undertake the role of the Chair at the Conference.
PANEL DISCUSSIONS
The ambition of the Panel Discussions will be to exchange the different, sometimes even conflicting views on the strategic issues presenting the best practices and future plans.
Panel Discussion will be 90 minutes in length and will consist of:
• co-ordination by the Chair/Organiser,
• presentations of three to four panellists, 15 minutes each and
• general discussion, 30 to 45 minutes.
Responsibilities of the Organiser of the Panel Discussion are:
• to write an abstract of the theme for the discussion and to guide the panellists,
• to suggest the panellists and which aspects each should cover –confrontation of different views is looked-for,
• to supervise the production of the presentations of the panellists with respect to content, quality and time,
• to serve as liaison between the panellists and the CPC and
• to propose the Chair for the Panel Discussion or to undertake the role of the Chair at the Conference.
PARALLEL SESSIONS
Invited Paper Session
Invited Paper Session will be 90 minutes in length and will consist of:
• co-ordination by the Chair/Organiser of the session,
• three presentations of the invited papers by their authors, 15 minutes each,
• emphasis of the Discussant, 15 minutes and
• general discussion, 30 minutes.
Responsibilities of the Organiser of Invited Paper Session are:
• to write an abstract for the session for information and to guide the invited papers,
• to suggest the invited papers authors and which aspects each should cover,
• to supervise the production of the invited papers with respect to content, quality and time,
• to serve as liaison between the authors, discussant and the CPC and
• to propose the Chair and the Discussant for Invited Paper Session or to undertake either of these roles.
Responsibilities of the Discussant are:
• to read the invited papers before the Conference,
• at the Conference to follow the presentations of the papers by their authors and
• to summarise and identify the key issues and conclusions in order to stimulate the general discussion.
CONTRIBUTED PAPER SESSION
Contributed Paper Session will be 90 minutes in length and will consist of:
• co-ordination by the Chair of the session,
• four presentations of the contributed papers by their authors, 15 minutes each and
• general discussion, 30 minutes.
Responsibilities of the Chair of Contributed Papers Session are:
• to run the session and
• to initiate general discussion.
Selection of contributed papers and their distribution between five main themes will be done by the Conference Programme Committee (CPC).
POSTER SESSION
Depending on the number of received contributed papers some of the authors could be also proposed to prepare their presentation for the Poster Session.
GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR THE ORGANISERS OF ALL SESSIONS
When selecting the participants for the individual session special consideration should be given to ensure that the session:
• has a balance of participants from around the world,
• has a good gender balance and
• has a good balance between statisticians, policy makers, experts, producers and users of data.
